CG Public Health offering FREE Prenatal and Postpartum Wellness Classes for Expecting and New Parents
(Mason City) – CG Public Health is partnering with the North Iowa Children’s Alliance to provide three prenatal and postpartum wellness classes for expecting and new parents. The Baby & Toddler Food Prep Course is a 2-hour workshop focused on the basics of introducing babies to solid foods, prepping nutritious meals for the picky toddler, and learning how to feed the mother’s body with nutritious foods postpartum to support breastfeeding and general health. The Baby & Toddler Food Prep Course will be held Tuesday, December 14th from 6-8 pm at Simply Nourished (13 S Federal in Mason City, Iowa – on the downtown plaza.)
The Postpartum Fitness Class is an in-depth dive into specific exercises and stretches for postpartum women to consider as they begin the healing and restorative process after delivery. Participants will learn safe and basic exercises for the core, pelvic region, and overall body strength to help mothers maintain the stamina for those busy and amazing early parenthood years. The Postpartum Fitness class will be held Tuesday, January 11th from 6-7 pm at CG Public Health 2570 4th Street SW Mason City, Iowa.
L.E.A.N. Expectations is a 2-hour workshop equipping women and parents before, during and after pregnancy. “The course is focused on growing a healthy baby by creating a healthy womb environment through positive Lifestyle, Exercise and Attitude choices, and basic prenatal Nutrition,” states Kelli Gerdes, population health manager at CG Public Health. This class is relevant to moms in all stages of pregnancy, whether they are carrying their first baby or their fifth. The next L.E.A.N. Expectations course will be held Tuesday, January 25th from 6-8 pm at CG Public Health 2570 4th Street SW Mason City, Iowa.
All workshops are offered free to the public, but registration is required. Virtual attendance options via Zoom are available for all classes. In addition, the classes are independent of each other so participants can pick and choose which course(s) they would like to attend.
