Position Title: Public Health Nurse

Salary: $53,000 to $60,000, DOQ

Our nurses see patients with a variety of needs including acute rehab needs, patients with chronic conditions who benefit from support to live independently, and patients with mental health needs.

Position Title: Public Health, Hospital, and EMS Preparedness Coordinator

Service Section: Environmental Health and Preparedness

Salary: $46,000-$49,000, DOQ

Position Description: 

Do you like the high-adrenaline world of emergency preparedness? Then we want you! The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health is looking for a self-starter who is able to be a leader in connecting various community partners to improve our service areas response in an emergency situation. The perfect candidate is a people person, organized and motivated, able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and skilled in data and reporting. We want someone who is flexible and innovative; organized and able to coordinate meetings with various partner agencies; able to develop plans and implement them; and have the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. We need someone who likes to take on a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to deadlines, and working well under pressure is also a must! The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and coordinate emergency preparedness activities between public health, hospital and EMS agencies in a twelve county service area.

Position Title: Infectious Disease Prevention Nurse

Service Section: Disease Prevention & Health Promotion

Salary: $47,000-$57,000 DOQ

Position Description: 

Are you passionate about protecting our community from disease?  Do you enjoy advocating for vaccines and other public health policies? If the answer is “YES” then we want you! CG Public Health is looking for a passionate nurse interested in preventing infectious diseases in the community.  The perfect candidate is organized, motivated, and flexible, able to work with all age groups, a team player, and skilled in oral and written communication, data collection, and reporting. We want someone who is passionate about working in vaccine preventable disease services; comfortable educating and screening clients for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases; and has the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Administer vaccines to public health clientele;
  • Conduct  annual school and licensed childcare facility immunization audits;
  • Assist with communicable disease surveillance and outbreak investigations;
  • Provide sexually transmitted infection, HIV and viral hepatitis counseling, education, and testing services;
  • Work in a team with other staff to provide disease prevention and health promotion services;
  • And of course, other duties as assigned!
